More assembly needed than I had anticipated, but all parts were enclosed. The legs are not metal but silver-colored plastic, and rectangular. The finish on two sides had blemishes, but they were fairly easy to repair if you have dark wood wax pencils, dark-finished oil or the like. All in all, it is fine for my needs in an office setting but I would not like the quality if it were in my home. Would have been a great value except for shipping costs.
